I don't know why but now that I am running Vista on my computer, if a incompatible software is installed, the computer just shuts down. Well it did that today and when it restarted, both my CD Drive and my DVD Drive are not properly installed. It says the driver file is corrupted. And HP/Compaq does not have the particular model of CD Drive listed in drivers for my model computer for some reason. Anyway I need a driver for the ASUS CRW-4832AS and also for a LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-160P6S. I hope you can help me as I could not seem to find what I needed on the manufactors site. Thank you so much!!

Optical drives never require a driver when used in any Windows os from 95 up. So what driver did you install that started this problem?

Support that allows this drive to read a data or music disk is native to Windows os's. I haven't used Vista but I see no reason why Microsoft would change it differently than previous os's. If Vista doesn't support cd-r or cd-rw burning, then you must use 3rd party compatible recording software in order to do successful burns.

SCSI interface.... not true, the CDRW-4832AS has an IDE/ATAPI interface.
