Hi,

I'm looking for a driver to support my Ir port. It shows up in Device Manager as 'XT Serial', I have tried googling this and all I can find is Modem drivers. I'm sure this is a Ir port, as I know the laptop has one, and I can't find an onboard Modem anywhere. If anyone knows of a supporting driver for XP, or could help me build one(I dont mind a bit of high level coding like Java, but I've never tried doing anything like making my own drivers) then I'd be really appreciative.

Thanks,

Ross

Medion Lifetec laptop models are xxx, xxxx, LT-xxxx. Which model do you have? and do you want the driver so you can use an IF device connected to it or are you just wanting the driver because it's flagged in Device Manager?

I believe the ir port is supported by the bios and os. First you must enter pc bios setup and enable the ir port. Secondly, you must enable it in Windows XP as well.

Typcal method: Enabling the IR Port with Windows 2000/XP

1.Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, and double-click the Wireless Link icon.
2.Select the Hardware tab and click the Properties button.
3.Select ‘Use the device (enable)’ in the device usage section of the window.
4.Click OK. If prompted, restart your system to enable the IR port.

Note: The infrared icon appears on the Windows taskbar when another infrared device is within range of your laptop.
