You cannot have an internal drive with a Parallel Port. It's not possible. Only an external mounted drive can have a parallel port interface. Internal drives (at least all that have been made in recent years) have IDE/ATAPI interfaces.

Philips made a "PHILIPS 2300BM" model which is internal 52X32X52 CD-WRiTER. It does not require any driver when used in Windows XP os. So please state what your problem is.

common problem in Windows XP... not a fault in the drive but the XP operating system.

Here are previous threads showing 2 different ways to fix the problem:

http://forums.driverguide.com/showthread.php?t=22131
(automatic fix, post #7, download file: CdGone.zip)

http://forums.driverguide.com/showthread.php?t=22104
(manual fix that requires editing the registry, post #2, more difficult to do
than the automatic fix listed above)

Thanks, This Device is now working, But as soon as i attach the DVD ROM the os will not recorgnise either, so i have to take out the DVD ROM restart the computer for the Os to recorgnise the CDRW. what would the problem be. I am Attaching both devices to the same cable.

did you check the Master/Slave/CS jumper on the back side of the original drive to see how it's jumpered.

If CS, then the newest drive must be jumpered identical.

If Master or Slave is used, then the newer driver must be jumpered opposite. In other words, if CS is not currently being used on any drives, then drive at end of cable must be jumpered as Master and drive at middle connector must be Slave.

Some companies like De|| and others use different types of ide cables (to cause confusion amongst their customers).
