I have a Tosahiba 2410 and it came with windows XP.
I removed XP and installed windows 2000 Pro
My device Toshiba cd/DVD-rom SD-R2212 will not read DVD's at all.

you must have dvd decoding software installed that's compatible with Windows 2000 os. like WinDVD or PowerDVD. Without it (or with the wrong type) you will not be able to read dvd disks.... only regular data or music disks.

I would figure that the same dvd decoding software made to run in Window XP would also run in Windows 2000. Did you install the same software?
