No drivers are required when using this drive in Windows XP (other than what the os provides and by compatible recording and dvd decoding software). Windows XP includes native support that allows this drive to read a data or music disk and to burn a cd-r disk. It contains no support for burning cd-rw or for playing dvd disks. For those 2 tasks, compatible recording and dvd decoding software is required.

If you have a problem of non-detection, eg: drive is not visable in My Computer or Device Manager, then you probably need the "delete upper and lower filters in the registry fix". Here's a file you can download. Unzip it and run the file.... after performing this, reboot and Windows will automatically detect and install your drive.
