First, the CGE-8160 does not have a scsi interface. It has an IDE interface. 2nd WHAT doesn't recognize it as a cd-rw??? Windows os, recording software, Other?

Windows 2000 does not contain any support for burning... that task is accomplished by compatible recording software. Install the correct version of recording software for your drive and the os your using it in and you won't have non-recognition troubles.

Your drive must be able to read a data and music disk before it can burn a disk. Does it read data or music disk ok? If so, then your only problem is the recording software.
