There are several things that can cause that. Are you running win98 first edition? If so you might need to update the disk controller port driver. You might try removing the hard disk controller in Device Manager, click OK and then reboot. Windows should then redetect it and reinstall the driver for it, assuming it's not corrupt. You could also try running 'system file checker' and see if it fnds missing or corrupted drvrs. Go to Start/run/open type in- SFC and click OK. It will take a while and it will let you know if it finds a problem and how to replace files. Go to MS knowledgebase and read article #130179 Troubleshooting MS-DOS Compatibility Mode on Hard Disks. Also, your motherboard chipset drvrs might need updating like Via's 4in1 drvrs for example.

This is a great website to watch movies, and the best thing is you can download them too:
http://www.freemoviestheatre.com
Ive been using it for more than a year and I'm very pleased with the service.
The best thing that it's completely virus free (not like the warez downloads) and it has almost everything that your looking for.
Hope this helps. (just give it a try)
