Hi, i'm the owner of the question, there seems to be a problem with the power connector which does'n match with the motherboard. The manual that i downloaded doesn't match with the real thing! well, the there are two lines of pins, the top which the 7th pin is missing, and the bottom line the pins are all full... does this help? i'm having a really hard time... please help!!!

I presume this is not IBM, server or laptop.
AT power connector has 12 pins with two 6pin plugs and black wires (ground) go in the middle!
some newer boards have also:
ATX power connector, which has 20 pins and has one 20 pin plug that only goes one way.
there could be an extra 6pin plug for 3.3volts and a 4pin plug for P4 processor if you have it.
I strongly suggest you identify and download proper manual, which will solve all your questions, including how to connect you power LED!
if this is an IBM or other using non-standard power supply, it will only connect if specifically made for each other.
