Hello from hell
In the device manager, under Primary and Secondary IDE controllers (dual fifo). I have the yellow !. I have checked the cables, they seem to be OK. I also have removed the controllers from the device manager. Restarted with no effect. Now the system is still running fine, as long as you do not require the CD drives. Is there any way that this can be corrected without formating the system.
Thank you
Phyllis

Blair, I'm having the same problem. This happened after I "fortunately" saved all of my files to CD's. Then I did a FULL RECOVERY. After restarting the computer, my CD-ROM didn't work. I went to the Device Manager, and saw the YELLOW EXCLAMATION MARKS. I went on the computer to get help and was advise to delete them, but I can't. I mistakenly deleted the CD-ROM in the device manager.
If anyone out there can tell me how to create the CD-ROM back to the Device Manager, I would be forever greatful. I have so much work that I need to put back on my computer.
Those yellow exclamation marks also give the following error messages:
(1) The computer is running in MS DOS compatibility mode and (2) the Master Boot record has been changed. It mentioned a virus, but I don't have one.
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Just go to safemode and then go to device mgr to remove
cdrom drive.Restart and then check dev mgr(or my computer)?
If their try cdrom-if not and its seen in safe mode try
booting from os cd from dead start? If it boot to a cd then
reload os if not buy a new cdrom.
