Thank you Peter 04-04-2004, 04:41 PM If you formted the disk useing FAT 16 you will only be able to partition 2Gig at a time when you use fdisk say yes to large disk support this will use Fat 32 Use Option 4 on fdisk This will tell you if all the drive is used or a % of the drive, if you want to use all the drive you will have to re fdisk again or use a program like PQ Magic to change the size of partitions without loseing data. With fdisk you will lose all data 4. Display partition information - Use this option to look at the current Fixed disk drive partition information. If you have multiple drives you will need to choose option 5 before being able to display the other hard drives information. how to: http://www.computerhope.com/sfdisk1.htm Click yes/no to get to next page Felix 04-04-2004, 05:01 PM You don't give much information to work on here. I assume you did nothing you can remember that could have made 8 Gbytes simply disappear. If that's true then you have to suspect a virus. Boot from a CLEAN, write protected DOS floppy and run FDISK to find out what's what on your disk. If you need more help drop me an e-mail at felix.ne14ap@btopenworld.com. PS: Don't trust the Win9X version of FDISK; it tells lies! PPS: Partition Magic will give you a lot more info about your hard disk. The DOS version fits on a single floppy complete with the DOS 6.22 system files. You have to do a bit of work to create the floppy but it's time well spent! |
