short of using the drive makers software (which all drive makers post online) there is nothing you can really do.

while it is possible to use 3rd party software/Hardware to scan/certify a drive. most users do not have access to this.

the drive makers software, will however tell the drive to start it's onboard diagnostics and map out all found bad sectors using spare sectors which are provided on the drive for this purpose

I incounter those Bad sector problem on my HDD i use the Old Dos program called Seagate DiskManager. The first thing do is Zero Fill and Low Level Format, But if the HDD is pysically Damage there is no way to fix the HDD
