I tried updating bios last week but it has failed miserably so I need to get a new bios chip. Before I do that, I need to confirm a bios code that will work with this Gericom Webboy laptop. Details of the original bios (prior to failing): Date: 05/04/01. ID string: 62-0213-009999-00101111-071595-SIS630-1AAOG008. I would be really grateful if someone could identify where I could locate this original bios file or a suitable alternative. (Gericom website is next to useless for info. The flashing failed after I tried to use their bios file under their webboy / 340s2 folder).

Why didn't you save a copy of the original bios before attempting a flash? Then you'd have a copy in case of failure such a you experienced.

Why are you trying to flash the bios? What problem are you having that you think a bios update will solve?

If you order a new bios chip, it will already be flashed. Once installed, used the flash program to save a copy to disk and then you will alway have it to flash the chip.

If Gericom cannot help you, then you must do business with a custom bios house.

Just to say that I managed to get my Webboy up and running again using the bios code intended for the 340s8 model (Gericom Webgine - no tv output).

So if anyone gets in a similar fix, I suggest they try that bios, which can be downloaded from www.gericom.com. (its saved on the website as an img file, so you may also need to download another piece of software to "unzip" it, so to speak).

Also, if you need bios chip reprogrammed, I used a company that you can access via this website:
