I had gotten a used Ultra 100 PCI IDE controller from a friends shop. I run XP Pro. I installed it and the detection process found the hardware. I had already went to promise technologies and downloaded the bios and the drivers for this controller. Upon the process it wouldn't accept the driver. When I double clicked on the bios it flashed a (dos type) command screen. I restarted the machine and nothing, nadda....I went through this process three times. Uninstalled the controller, went to my firends shop and located an Ultra 66 controller. I installed, went to promise and found no drivers. I came to driver guide and download one driver and went through the hardware detction process and tried to load the driver NOTHING. I downloaded a second driver ......NOTHING. What am I doing wrong here. I certainly am not a novice at this and I'm perplexed why neither of these (working) pieces of hardware will accept the drivers. contact me asap with solutions mailto:ray_polen@yahoo.com

poor posting...

1> used Ultra 100 PCI IDE controller from a friends shop

and that card model was or the chip used on the card is?

2> downloaded the bios and the drivers for this controller

and the file names were? and the url used was?

3> Upon the process it wouldn't accept the driver

and that process was? (ever hear of describing how?)

4> When I double clicked on the bios it flashed a (dos type) command screen

clicked on what file? (name) when? (in dos or in windows?)

"What am I doing wrong here. I certainly am not a novice at this"

perhaps not, but as for actually providing information, yes you are.
