I need the file USBNTMAP.SYS for a WinME OS HP laptop. Whenever I put a Centon datastick in the USB port, I get an error saying the file is missing. The laptop came only with a system recovery disc and the file is not on it. Thanks.

Your recovery disk has to have CAB files in order to reinstall Windows in the case of a failure. Those cab files contain the usb file you need. Find them, then point the installation to the drive/folder where the cab file reside.
All systems I've installed ME on, have automatically written the CAB files to the hard drive. Search it as well.

I wanted to know if you HAVE TO restore your computer in order to get that file from the restoration disk. The usbntmap.sys is missing and I can't connect a memory reader to my laptop. How do I retrieve that file without having to restore the entire computer?
Thanks

easy.... use Windows Explorer, find the CAB files, right-click 1st cab file, left click VIEW, find needed SYS file, right-click, left click EXTRACT. Choose destination folder, click ok.
If file is not found in 1st CAB, go to next, continue until file is found.

that website doesn't store the file, it only tells where it really is.

I doubt it will matter... administration will most likely delete it once they discover someone posted a MS copyrighted file.
