Please obtain a driver that can be used for a Samsung DVD/CDROM, TS-H352C, with Win98. I was able to find a ".bin" file, through another search, that claimed to be the driver... but I can't load, run, or even open it.
Thank you.

A bin file is not a driver... it's firmware. And optical drives never require a driver when used in any Windows os from 95 up. The os provides native support that allows this drive to read a data or music disk and dvd decoding software provides the support that allows it to play dvd disks.

When the drive is properly connected/configured, the os should recognize the drive during bootup and a listing should appear in Device Manager under CD-ROM showing the drive. If the os fails to detect the drive, here are the most common reasons:

1: Improperly connected ide ribbon cable or defective cable/connectors.
2: Master/Slave jumper not set correctly.
3: Problem with the ide port to which the drive is connected or wrong ide drivers installed.
4: IDE port is disabled in bios.
5: Defective drive.
