: I have tried a number of drivers from similar devices as I have not been able to locate a driver for this specific device all to no avail. I have searched many sites (including, but not limited to, compusa, driverguide, drivers, download, etc.) My laptop went up in smoke (literally) and I really need to have access to these files when at home, but I cant find the driver (and of course the cd is missing) Also, unfortunately, this pc wont handle xp or I would just upgrade it and not worry about the drivers... if you find this specific driver please let me know. thanks in advance.

If CompUSA can't help you then you gotta help yourself. Open the drive enclosure and note the chipset used on the circuit board. Repost with that info.
