I AM A COMPLETE NOVICE. I HAVE BOUGHT A WEB CAMERA FROM ALDI CAMERA WORKS FINE BUT NO MICROPHONE. COMPUTER TELLS ME I NEED TO UPRADE SOUND CARD AND OBVIOUSLY WOULD LIKE TO DOWNLOAD FREE UPGRADE OR WHATEVER.

"UPRADE SOUND CARD" ??? do you mean upgrade the hardware or the software? Your request is mumbled and very difficult to understand. Please state what hardware is involved and include an accurate description of it and exactly what you are wanting.
"Microsoft AMD ATHLON 2.8" has no importance on what driver or sound hardware is installed in your pc.
"CAMERA WORKS FINE BUT NO MICROPHONE".... and what does this have to do with a sound device driver?
