I've replaced a CD-ROM in my NEC Versa 6050MH laptop with a CD/DVD (Toshiba SD C2402) which used to live in my Sony Vaio F590. It works fine with CDs in the Versa but won't play DVDs even though I installed PowerDVD. Is this a BIOS, hardware, or driver problem? I run Win 98SE in the Versa.

I doubt it's a bios or driver problem. All dvd support is provided solely by the DVD decoding software. Either your drive is not compatible with the current version of PowerDVD or the installation is not correct. Try un-installing PowerDVD and reinstall it. If that doesn't cure you problem, check with Cyerlink to see what version is required with your hardware and os. :hdspin:

Hello, I have a PCG-F590 Vaio notebook, it recently crashed and I do not have the recovery CDs, though I'm able to install win98, the display is not good as the display drivers are missing, Could you tell me what display drivers are you using (ex, neomagic, etc) and if possible email me the display drivers, Sony support is not helping as the notebook is old.
THANKS in advance.
Vasu.

Please DO NOT hijack a thread. As a member you can create your own thread. Please do so. And you don't ask for display drivers in a cd forum and you don't ask for drivers in a tech support forum. That's why we have a driver request forum. Ghezzz, man can't you read our forum headers and understand what they mean?
