Do not attempt a bios upgrade until you understand how/why FIRST.
Most motherboard sites have CLEAR instructions posted along with their bios files. So the first thing you need is a clear understanding of why updating bios is done. It's done for a specific reason... not just because it can be done. Unless you have a specific reason do not flash your bios... using improper flash programs or wrong bin files can render you motherboard useless resulting in a dead board.
Steps to updating bios:
1: Get the proper bin/rom file.
2: Get the proper flash program.
3: Read instructions for using both.
4: perform flash update by launching flash program, eg: flashproggy.exe xxxx.bin ENTER

I've upgrade several mb in the past but it was always with "exe" files that give me a way of upgrading, never with only a "bin"
I only upgrade a mb when it is necessary => in this case to add a greater HD (40 io 4 Gb), not recognize by actual bios
as it was necessary to perform upgrade friday afternoon I buy a addon pci ide card and my prob is solved

and the BIOS chop has sockett, replace with another same size chip. Thatway you can always recover with the original if anything goes wrong!
