In my computer I have installed Windows 2000 Professional upgrade, (THE CD LABEL SAYS THIS), and I was trying to install DSL BELLSOUTH in my computer, the INSTALLATION WIZARD CD FROM BELLSOUTH was testing my settings, and the CD said that I have W2K and I need another Operating System like Windows 98, ME, 2000, or XP. My questions: What's W2K? It's another version different from Windows 2000 or is this another version or what?

I hope you understand my question. Sorry for my grammar I am mexican and I don't understand why my computer is telling me this problem. I couldn't install DSL on my computer for this problem.

Thank you.

Hello Raul!
W2K is the same as Windows 2000.
The letter K is another way of saying 1000.. So the W is for Windows, the 2 followed by the K is a way of saying 2000. It is all just shortened.

Computer speak will always be like that..

Oh, as the son of an English teacher, may I just say that your grammar is excellent!! Much, much, better than most of the fools that usually post on the Web.. and they claim to speak English ;-) hehe!

I'm sorry but I don't have any ideas about your particular problem though...sorry.

Does anyone else?? Jerry? Felix??

All the best my friend.

although widely used in english abreviated computer lingo by english laguage teachers and their sons alike, it is more of an engineering expression where english is used as a universal base.
what I'm trying to say, is you have to think like an engineer in english to understand certain terms you may come across on BellSouth CD installation wizard or whatever, so don't wory about it too much. you english is fine!

Call Bell South Tech support and they can probaly help you through the instalation of your DSL setup!

In windows XP you dont need any software normaly, except for your mail and then you need a user name and pass word!
