: It is a wireless router. I have a wireless b pci card but it does not detect the router. I can connect my modem into the router and use it as a switch but the wireless does not work. I can plug it in using a cat 5 (LAN) cable from my modem to the router then a cat 5 (LAN) to my pc. I just can't get my pci card to detect the router, when i open up my pci card and click "view available wireless networks", it says "no wireless networks were found in range." I thought that the pci card would automaticaly find the router as soon as i plugged the router in, but for some reason it does not detect it.

My wireless pci cards and router (Netgear) had to be configured after the drivers were installed. Have you done so? Is this new hardware? If so, did you get a driver disk and instructions? Router is configured using a webbrowser. Follow installation & configuration instructions carefully.
