My friend recently reformatted his home-built computer and once he finished reformatting the network adapter driver disappeared. The device is present but there's no driver. He didn't personally build the computer so he'd not sure what kind of network adapter driver to look for... is there a generic network adapter that can work at least until he's able to get online then allow the computer to find the proper driver online. I'm definitely no computer whiz so I thought I would ask on here and see if someone can help. Thanks for everything in advance

You really need to give more specific information here. The model and manufacturer of the motherboard would be paramount, as there isn't a "generic" NIC driver. If you know where the NIC chip is on the board, the information printed on the chip would be good too.
