I have a hard drive that is showing up on boot up as a primary slave, and also on the device manager as working, but I cannot find it on my computer, it is telling me that I have to initialise this. Does any one out there knows how I can go obout doing this please?

right click on "my computer" select MANAGE then right click DISK MANAGMENT now right click on box of selected device and select FORMAT and take all shown defaults.
Note: make sure you select the CORRECT drive/device to format!! get it wrong and you will be reinstalling windows.
