Could someone please help me? I have this 120 GB external HD from Acomdata. I have used it several times with my Dell D600 laptop which runs XP Pro without trouble. Than, once, Windows didn't see it when I plugged in the USB and turned it on. I uninstallled and reinstalled the Windows driver and it fixed the problem. Now it's happening again, and I tried the same thing and it's not working. I am a student in Computer Programming and have several valuable data files on this HD and I really need them, so if anyone knows anything that might help me I would greatly appreciate it. According to Acomdata the Windows Generic Storage Volume driver in XP is the only one the HD should need. I don't know if it means anything, but when I look in Device Manager, Windows lists 3 Generic Storage Volume drivers even though I have only ever used this one.

Uninstall all 3 of those storage drivers, then plug the drive in and wait til Windows prompts you with further instructions. If you have problems, please check your usb port in Device Manager to insure it's ok.
