Windows goes through the recognize and install device process then asks me to insert the Windows 98 SE Install disk because it cannot find the drivers? My OS is Win 98 not 98SE Where can I get the Human Input Device Drivers that are evidently on Win 98SE? Or do I need to upgrade the Windows 98 OP SYs to something more current that has these drivers as part of its driver list? When checking this site the only thing I find from Targus is their doco. No drivers. This tells me that they (Targus) expect my Windows to already have them. I just bought this wireless mouse today? Anyhow, if anyone could help I would appreciate it. Its a IBM THinkpad 2 years old with an old OS. Just trying to put in a mouse instead of the "red" dot in the middle of the keyboard. HELP!!!

:
USB support needs to be installed and enabled in the BIOS. Please check. Also, you are correct the mouse uses the stock MS supplied driver and is expecting it to be there or available if not.

You can't locate a driver for this mouse because there are no drivers for this mouse.
Provided your USB ports are enabled all that is needed is:

1) plug the receiver in to the port while the computer is off and make sure the power switch is ON on the mouse.

2) turn on your computer and let it boot up - when it finds new hardware - just skip or cancel it - it's not required.

3) push the little button on the top of the receiver (where the blue light is) and it will start to flash slowly.

4) push the red button on the under side of the mouse and roll the mouse around. This is the auto frequency finder.
That should do it. You may have to set your mouse settings for a scroll mouse in the control panel, but that should be it.
No drivers required. Also, the mouse will auto power off after 8 minutes. To turn it back on- put your thumb on the two metal strips on the side (it closes the circut)and roll around. If you turn it off underneath the mouse and forget to turn it back on before you boot up - you will have to push all those buttons again!
Enjoy this awesome mouse!!
