I recently had to replace the hard drive in an hp 6630 pavalion.
The modem will not work and the device manager shows that the

intel motherboard, visit intel web site. support then chipsets link. and download chipset id app and the "CHIPSETINF" program, and any other drivers such as AppAcell and video.

once the motherboard's chipset inf drivers are installed windows will understand the features fo the chipset and load the nessary driver support. (including SMB support)
