I just received a Compaq Presario 2195 laptop (AMD Athelon). The first thing I did was wipe XP off by inserting the Windows 2000 Professional CD.

I did not wipe it off completely with Norton Utilities.

The screen appears very small, and it says there is only a default driver on the display. I attempted to download several drivers from this site. When I loaded them, there was no change in the screen's appearance.

Compaq has the worse customer service I have ever experienced. They were not helpful and would not support Windows 2000, and directed me to this site.

Any suggestions? Is the solution to just put XP back on?

Thanks,
Corey

I would like to comment but what I have to say won't be appropriate for this forum. Damien is the most experienced in responding to this type of HP/Compaq problem/complaint...... if he responds, listen to what he has to say. :)

Was it XP home or Pro.
If it was XP home I'd understand. If its pro then I'd have to ask why?
I work for a DVR company and get tech support questions all the time. If I received a caller that told me they replaced the OS that was shipped with the unit, and then ask for tech support, I'd about fall out of my chair. You must understand, Its like getting a car and installing a different engine and asking the machanic for help. You just voided the warranty.
To answer your question, I'd put XP back on.
