I have a MSI KT3-ARU MB based PC running Win98 SE. This has NEC chips for the USB 1.1 (OK) and xxx.100 for the USB 2.0 for which there is no driver (there is one for the later xxx110). So I have three ports and Bluettoth which cannot be used.
Enquiries sometime ago to MS on the SDK and NEC (UK) did not elicit a response. Does anyone know where the necessary info. can be obtained to write a driver in say, C++ as a part-time task.

Win 98 does not install USB 2.0 by default...
You will need to go to Microsoft's website and get the driver..
I use it almost everyday at work, to be able to use an
external Usb 256mb memory stick (Fuji)..
On win98se...
Just do a search for USB 2.0 drivers...
Good Luck

Try this page from MS..
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;240075
Also doublecheck your system Bios to make sure 2.0 is Enabled..
If you know how to get into Bios..
should be in the Integrated section..just below the 1.1....
If the 2.0 is disabled, only 1.1 ports will work..
Also,
I have the 2.0 driver but it is on the Fuji USB driver disk (At Work)that came with my Memory stick, It is specified Only Win98/ME needs to install..
If not already..If you have any other USB 2.0 device, it will install auto..
ex: HP deskjet printers..
Good Luck
