I have just installed a 56K Aus-linx Tassie Devil external modem in Win98SE - all working fine but the connection tells me I am only connected at 46K. (I have the maximum modem speed in dialup networking set at default of 115K.)

Am I running under my modem's capacity?
Is it a phone line or an ISP issue?

Any help would be appreciated.

That is good based on an average. the issue is not the modem but the phone line and how far you are from the switching station. in other words, the further you are away the slower your connection speed. Tha average is 49.3k
