Hi,
Someone tried to install linux on PC with HDD on SATA ?
My instalation kernel (from CD) doesn't see this interface
and I can't select anything for root directory.

the interface has NOTHING to do with installing,...common thinking should be applied causing you to realise that it's the IDE INTERFACE chipset (aka- what maker/model IDE chip used) linux supports common (older) ide chipsets and SOME (but not all) newer chipsets based on the sata inteface chip (usually a marvel chip, but there are others)

you must check that the ide chip used on your sata interface is SUPPORTED by your linux build.

You can try to recognise SATA HDD like SCSI drive. I think it will work

And how do I recognise SCSI? Can u please tell me? I am facing this issue while installing fedora core 3 on sata hdd.

This step how to install the Linux series.

1. Format the hard disk
2. go into the bios and turn off the shadow bios for your PC.
3. Viola now u can install the Linux series into SATA HDD
