Hp no longer offers any help for my cd-rw, so I hope someone on here can help me. I need to know what the minimum system requirements are for a 8x4x32x cd-rw. I think my problem that I am having may have to do with the size of my pc, but I can't find any system requirements for this. Please help.

Your question requires more clarification. Are you trying to replace the 8x4x32 cd-rw in your HP pc because it's not working or are you trying to see if you can install the cd-rw in an HP pc or another model of pc?
Generally, a cd-rw of that vintage (3+ yrs old) would probably work in any pc with an intel PII or newer cpu(P3,4, amd duron, t-bird, XP) and a
system board (motherboard) with atapi-2 or faster IDE drive channel. If you need to gather info about your system go to belarc.com and d/l Belarc Advisor and run it on your pc. It's free.

hope this helps

Ok, I ran the belarc advisor. I am putting this cd-rw into my computer and it came out of an Hp. When it was removed, it worked fine, and now I am having problems. I am wondering if the problem is that my computer is too slow. I have a 267 mhz Intel Pentium II with a 3.22 gig hard drive and 64 mb of ram. The cd-rw will read disks just fine, but it won't save to them. Is my computer too slow, or not have enough memory to run the burner part of the cd-rw?

I forgot the stuff about the motherboard. The only thing I can see on this advisor sheet is it says Main Circuit Board: PREMIO Computer, Inc. 440LX and it also says under controllers, Intel 82371AB/EB PCI Bus Master IDE Controller.

in order to BURN cd's you have to "install" cdrom buring software.

common programs are Nero www.ahead.de and Ezcd Creator www.roxio.com
