This DVD-ROM worked with Windows 98 But the driver needs to be upgraded for Windows 2000

Optical drives never require a driver when used in any Windows os from 95 up. The os provides the support that allows it to read a data or music disk and compatible dvd decoding software will allow the drive to read/play a dvd disk.
