Hard disk crash had unexpected result of losing contact with the DVD and CD music capability of my no brand laptop. I only get a hard beep noise through the speaker, at startup, otherwise all audio is gone. The internet radio won't go on. The Windows menu for SOUNDS says my hardware is a Matshita DVD/ROM SR-8176. It also says I need Audio Codecs, Legacy Audio Drivers, Media control Devices, Legacy Video Capture Devices and Video Codecs. I downloaded a file called udfrdw2k, but it hasn't helped. I also downloaded what I think were audio and video codexes from the MS site, along with all kinds of Media Support. Big updates but no talking. Skype doesn't work either. Help, please, I'm over my head.
