Anyone can help me to install this old CD/RW drive in my Windows XP Home Edition?

A USB external optical drive doesn't require any driver. And it's not installed manually. When the usb port is working and the drive is physically in working order, it's plug and play. It should appear in Device Manager and My Computer within 4-5 seconds of plugging it in. Windows will tell you when it's complete (message in lower right of screen.)
First thing I'd check is the usb ports in Device Manager. Or take the drive out of the external case in install it internally to the secondary ide port. If it works that way then you either have a enclosure problem or a cabling problem or a usb port problem.
