Hi I am upgrading an old time PC for a friend and they report problems with the CDRW drive. I was able to copy a CD but after that the drive failed to work; It would not show disk contents or play audio.

it has been recently reinstalled and I have tried to find the drivers for this model, it has been a nightmare. DriverGuide.com usually has all drivers I need Please if any one has drivers for the Philips cdrw1610a aka pcrw1610 please let me know.

No drivers are required when using this drive in Windows XP (other than what the os provides and by compatible recording and dvd decoding software). Windows XP includes native support that allows this drive to read a data or music disk and to burn a cd-r disk. It contains no support for burning cd-rw or for playing dvd disks. For those 2 tasks, compatible recording and dvd decoding software is required.
eg: Easy CD Creator V5.x (or higher), Easy Cd & DVD Creator v6.x, Nero V 5.5.5.1 (or higher), WinDVD or PowerDVD
