"My recorder doesn't work"??? Does that mean it won't recorder but does everything else ok? What is "Gold"?
Recording support is provided both by the os (cd-r only) and by compatible recording software. Can you record from Windows Media Player? Can you record from "Gold" (whatever that is)? Have you ever recorded with "Gold"?

: With "doesn´t work" I mean that computer behave like there isn´t any recorder.

If the drive is not listed in My Computer or Device Manger, then it has not been detected properly by the system. Easy fix for that problem. You need to delete the upper and lower filters in the registry. Instuctions are posted on Microsoft's website (link below).

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;320553

A drive cannot burn disks unitl it's able to read a data or music disk and is shown properly in Device Manager. Once you delete the filters, just reboot and the drive should then be visibile in Device Manager (and My Computer) and should then work ok.
report back here with the results.

doesn´t read CD, doesn´t record, anything. I had my notebook in service and they completely changed my old mechanics and gave me a new one without a driver. Before reinstalling my Windows worked, but now not. Gold 5 was my original recording program, but it is not important I mean.

I tried to remove the upper and lower filtres according to the first motion as was written but it could not operate because the filtres were not there.I tried the second option which was on the web but it also couldn not opearate but they have written to me that the driver is either broken or is completely missing.

What is listed under CD-ROMS and under Hard Disk Controllers? (In Device Manager)
Do you have the ribbon cable connected correctly at the drive and mb connector?
Is the drive enabled in bios setup?
