Optical drives never require a driver when used in any Windows os from 95 up. The XP os provides native support that allows this drive to read a data or music disk and to burn a cd-r disk. It contains no support for burning cd-rw or dvd disks or for playing dvd disks. For those tasks, compatible recording and dvd decoding software is required.
eg: Easy CD Creator V5.x (or higher), Easy Cd & DVD Creator v6.x, Nero V 5.5.5.1 (or higher), WinDVD or PowerDVD
