Optical dvd drives never require a driver when used in Windows XP whether it be Home Edition or Pro version. Windows XP provides native support that allows this drive to read a data or music disk and to burn a cd-r disk, No support for burning cd-rw or for playing dvd disks. For those 2 additional features, compatible recording and dvd decoding software is required.
