i lost my original disk and due to a crash of my pc

You'll need to find the missing disk or buy compatible recording software. There are no drivers required. Only recording software is the missing piece. Windows XP provides native support that allows this drive to read a data or music disk and to burn a cd-r disk. No support for burning cd-rw disks however.
