Try and remember any other programs you uninstalled resently and reinstall the program. If you have the correct file you can copy it directly to C:\windows\system and try that. First try \ Start/Programs\accessories\system tools\system information and at the top you will find TOOLS. HIT TOOLS AND USE SYSTEM FILE CHECKER to see if any other files are bad or missing. THEN try copying youR file to the windows system if it is not in windows. GOOD LUCK. sam C Luis Ferreira 01-21-2004, 02:00 AM i have the file but cannot locate the folder sys.ini in windows 98 it seems to be missing. can anyone tell me where the sys.ini folder should be located so i can create it and add vnet.vxd? Hi, sys.ini is not a folder there is a system.ini file in windows. If this file is missing then you should be able to restore from a recent copy. In the windows folder there is a hidden folder called SYSBCKUP. In there there are back-up copies of windows file. In this folder a .cab files, normaly rb001.cab to rb005.cab in these files are system.ini and win.ini as well as a couple of other files. rb005.cab will be the latest. To get in to these files either use winzip or extract.exe that comes with windows. I must say that it is uncommon for programs to remove system.ini. so check to see if it is missing first as to not accidently over write this file. hope this helps |
