I have a Sony CDRW drive enclosed in an external case and connected by USB. I need to get the necessary drivers for it since the CD I have is not reading properly. The CD contains plumax drivers.

Optical drives never require a driver when used in any Windows os from 95 up. External optical drives connected via usb only require a driver if your os is Windows 98. And this is only to allow the system to see the drive... it's called a usb enclosure/port driver. Since it's not and your running Windows 2000, you don't need any driver. Your drive only requires proper configuration inside the usb enclosure and connection to a working usb port. It should be recognized within 4-5 seconds after plugging it in. Make sure you have updates service packs for your os installed. That will insure usb compatibility.
