Connected how? CD-rom drives don't have "other" interfaces. Most external cd-rom drives are connected via usb, pcmcia, or parallel port.

You folks need to state what interface your drive has, eg: pcmcia (& the name of your pcmcia adapter), usb, or parallel port.

the connection of this drive is some kind of SCSI external connection.
I had found the exact type some time ago, but I have forgotten.
Its definitely SCSI though.

does that helps anyone?
Does anyone knows how to upgrade this drive into DVD?

thanks

ALL drives (including SCSI) never require a driver when used in Windows XP. SCSI (like IDE, Parallel Port, & PCMCIA) drives are plug and play once the scsi controller driver has been installed. This allows the system to see that a drive is present.

DVD drives require dvd decoding software in order to play dvd movie disks. DVD burner drives require compatible recording software in order to be able to burn dvd disks.
